Covid doesn’t take a Christmas vacation. Kindly remember that the mask mandate is in place until January 18. You must wear your mask in the building. Please remind student athletes this applies to them as they enter and exit the building as well. We have a number of games scheduled over vacation. It would be a shame to lose them over a non-compliance issue.

The boys and girls basketball teams will be playing on Saturday, December 19th against Richardton/Taylor at New England. The times are: girls junior varsity will start at 11:00; varsity girls at 12:30; boys junior varsity at 2:00; and boys varsity at 3:30.

The times for the boys and girls basketball games scheduled for December 22nd versus Lemmon at New England have been changed to: girls junior varsity at 3:00; varsity girls at 4:30; junior varsity boys at 6:00; and varsity boys at 7:30. This will allow more fans the opportunity to watch their sons and daughters.

There will be a VARSITY GBB game HERE against Stanley at 5 PM on Thursday, December 17.

Tickets for the Boys Basketball game in Killdeer tonight, Tuesday, December 15th can be picked up at the New England School front office. We should be able to use these tickets thru Saturday.

All devices and chargers will be collected on Thursday, December 17. This message doesn't apply to those who are distance learning UNLESS students are planning on attending IN PERSON next semester. If that is the case, please return devices by Friday, December 18.

Just a reminder, our home games are limited to 25% capacity. Our 25% capacity is around 110 fans. Away games are limited to 2 fans per student/athletes.

Sports pictures for 456 BBB and 7-12 basketball are TOMORROW, 12/14, at 9:30 AM.

Holiday Dress Up Day Schedule

On Friday, November 13, 2020, Governor Burgum issued Executive Order 2020-43, requiring face coverings be worn in all indoor public spaces regardless of social distancing. On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum announced an extension to this statewide mask mandate until at least January 18th. Students and staff will be required to wear face coverings at all times. The Governor also announced Wednesday that high school sports competitions will be allowed to resume December 14th with 25% capacity. Region 7 also decided to allow 2 fans per student/athlete traveling to out of town events.

New England Public School is excited to expand the opportunity for fans of our programs to watch various events taking place in our school. There are some limitations for what can be streamed given location of the event and technology availability, but efforts are being made to get all events streamed.
We have partnered with the NFHS Network to provide anyone access to all of our activities. You will need to create a single private account which will allow you to follow your favorite event from our facilities to any event scheduled on our network.
The link below will allow any fan to access the NFHS network, establish an account and immediately have access to watch events on their computer or mobile device.
The following link will allow you to create a New England High School NFHS subscription: www.nfhsnetwork.com/users/sign_up
Once the account has been created, search for New England High and “Follow” the Tigers.

On Friday, December 18, the music department will be recording the students performing the holiday songs they have been practicing this semester. Your students may choose to wear their holiday outfits or come to school in their usual clothes. These recordings will be made available at a later date.
PLEASE NOTE: School will be dismissed at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 18.

On Thurs., Dec. 17, and Fri., Dec. 18, school-issued devices from K-12 students will be collected. They WILL NOT have devices during Christmas break from Dec. 18 to Jan. 2.
Grade 3-12 computers will be checked for any user-installed software that was not on your computer when it was issued. Students are strongly encouraged to uninstall unauthorized software such a games, etc. on their own. If any unauthorized software is found after the devices are turned in, it will be removed, or the device will be wiped.
Students in grades 9-12 will need to visit with Mrs. Witte individually or provide her with their login credentials.
Any questions or concerns should be brought to Mrs. Witte.
If your student uses the EDMENTUM platform for their distance learning, he or she will keep the device to continue to work during Christmas vacation. Do NOT turn the device into the office.

Dear Tiger’s Family:
I want to thank all of you for the warm welcome and support that you provided to my brother Michael and I at this time last year. It is hard to believe that it has been a year since the passing of our brother Shawn. Your kindness and generosity were overwhelming, and I am ashamed to say that I am just getting around to properly thanking you.
Many of you put monetary gifts in the cards that you brought to the service for Shawn and I have been attempting to properly thank those of you for whom I have addresses. However, many of you left cash and because I have no address, I have not been able to send proper notes. I want you to know how grateful our family is for your generosity.
All the gifts that we received have been donated to a scholarship fund in Shawn’s name. The scholarship was established to assist recipients in attending local basketball camps. The fund is now at goal and it is our hope to be able to begin awarding scholarships as early as June 2021.
I think this would make Shawn happy. He was devoted to his students and athletes and would be proud to know that his giving continues, thanks to the Tiger community. My brother Michael and I cannot thank you enough for the way that you supported us at such a difficult time and for the way you have honored Shawn’s memory in the school gym.
Sincerely,
Maureen Flaherty

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, New England Public School is planning an Academic Catch Up Day to give students in grades 5-12 the opportunity to improve their grades by getting caught up on their academic work. This work may include, but is not limited to, completing missing assignments, retaking quizzes, finishing essays, reading course material, completing enrichment activities, working on deficient skills, receiving tutoring etc.
This is a great opportunity for students in grades 5-12 to improve their academic standing before the semester ends. Friday, December 11th has been identified as our Academic Catch Up Day. Our expectation is that this regular school day, for those students invited, is treated with a serious, strategic focus on students improving their academic standings before grades are finalized.
Students eligible for the Academic Catch Up Day will be notified by their instructors. Students in grades Preschool thru fourth grade will have a normal school day.

Just a reminder, girls volleyball need to return their uniforms and travel gear tomorrow, Friday, December 4th during RTI.
